Hugh kept a simple log of his submarine days aboard the Darter. It was handwritten and he later typed it up. The entries don't go into detail but it lets us know what happened on a given day of his career over 75 years ago. I will post these when the dates come around.
His log entry for 8/13/43 reads:
Friday the 13th. Sighted first convoy off Kobe. Fired four fish; made two hits; both duds. Score: Nil - received 86 depth charges and kept down 16 hours.
